Amazing food!
After attending the production of Rent at the Greensburg Civic Center, we stopped into Jaffre’s for dinner. My husband and I couldn’t decide so we got the Italian Hoagie (only half shown in the photo) and Garlic Pizza. We split both so we could each have a bite of all included. So good! Our daughter had the Chicken Romano over Rotini. We were surprised at the size of the “bowl”….a very generous portion. Atmosphere was lovely. Fabric tablecloths and napkins with wine decor. All in all….excellent! We will be back!
2 time visting. Jaffers, a kind of hole in the wall. Has good food. Our first experience was much differt than the second. The first was pleasant and enjoyable.
The second started off the same. Two weeks apart and very different experiance. We entered and there was no host. No problem, we wanted the bar area. With four people we sat at a table. Sat down to be told we must be seated by the host and forced to go back to the host stand where the host Sean was messing around and wasting time. Then took us back where we were sitting.... Ok so I am ok following the rules but they should have the host at the stand in stead of standing in the back cornor.
Things really didnt change. Food was good, no surprise.
However with 4 people you would expect the moron host would have given more than two sets of utensils. Disappointed.
Again, the food was good. No disappointment. However, don't expect a refill so drink slow. The waitress was nice but also tending bar agsin while Sean was doing nothing.
The topper was three to four other guesys by passed the host stand as well and wasnt treated like a second class citizen as my family was.
Sean, you should get a job outside customer service. We saw you smirking.. The right way to handle it would have been to let us know to wait and remain sested while you retrived menus.
Dont be a jerk.... You lost my family and friends!
We will not be back.
As a home cook with unrealistically high standards for my own dishes, I've been burned by so many restaurants when it comes to ordering pastas and sauces, but I was caught completely off guard by Jaffre's.
I can't speak to anything else from Jaffre's because this was my first time, but the Gnocchi Bolognese was surprisingly the best pasta dish I've had at a restaurant in 36 years on this earth. The heart, soul, and skill that went into creating the sauce is undeniable, and the gnocchi was most certainly homemade and perfectly dense. It was truly comforting.
10/10 I'll be back for more, and probably to try to reverse-engineer the Bolognese recipe.
Delish! That pretzel though...amazing and huge. Spicy bloody Mary was also perfect. Ordered the famous fish and chips, and it was another huge portion. It would be hard to leave hungry visiting this place. Server was very fun and we all had a great time.
I don’t think jaffres has anything on their menu that isn’t good. Their pick up process is so easy and convenient and I love not having to interact with anyone.
The staff was great and very accommodating. The restaurant has a great bar area. The dining area gave us a great dining experience with cute decor.
My kids really loved their food and left with a full belly. The Appetizers and sides were good.
I wasn't a fan of the main course (pork chops with apricots) but that's just me.
If you are in the area and looking for a nice sit down meal with the family, stop on in and give it a shot.
If I lived closer, I could see this being a fun spot to grab a beer with friends in the bar area!
We had an excellent dinner. The food is always great tonight and our server, Steph, our server, was kind and friendly, she even sang happy birthday to me! I highly recommend the wedding soup, it never disappoints and the parmesan zucchini was delicious.
Good first time visit yesterday.
Actually it was our second attempted visit. The first time we tried, we went on a Friday night at 5:40pm and there was no parking available. The bowling alley parking lot was empty but had a bunch of signs that said for their patrons only, so we went somewhere else. Thought we would try again last night (a Sunday) and there were two spots in the parking lot. The place is really big inside, so the size of the parking lot to me is a little odd/inconvenient.
The hostess was really friendly and welcomed us when we told her we were first time visitors. Our waitress recommended a few appetizers to us and we settled on the arancini, which was delicious and a pretty generous portion. For entrees, my husband ordered the sausage cavatelli and I ordered the capellini Jaffre. We both got side salads with the entree.
We didn’t realize that meals come with Italian bread, which was came out warm and was sweet and dense- really nice.
The side salads were kind of …sad.. to be honest. Iceberg only lettuce with a beet slice, cucumber slice and two cherry tomatoes. Might go for soup as the side next time.
My entree was okay. The seafood was nice, but the sauce lacked complexity. My husband and I both thought it probably would improve with more citrus and salt.
His entree on the other hand was excellent. The cavatelli was high quality pasta and the sauce was savory and complex- I would order it next time except that I’m not a big sausage fan. We were both surprised at how generous the entree portions are! Mine will probably equal out to three meals for me and two for him.
Overall, a pretty good first experience and we will try to come back (as long as we can find a parking spot) to try more of the recommended items on the menu.
